Scott Jacobs is a Chicago writer and journalist. He's covered five presidential campaigns, produced national documentaries for PBS and A&E, and authored five books. His "Famous Ski Hills in Wisconsin (and other delusions of grandeur)" was named Book of the Year by the Chicago Writers Association in 2014, so he knows whereof he speaks.
