Biography

Michael Kurtz is an Army veteran and Bronze Star medal recipient for his service in Desert Storm. He has degrees and professional certificates from Southern Oregon University, Willamette University’s Atkinson Graduate School and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Michael published his first fiction novel, Burn to Black, in 1993 before taking a writing hiatus to have a career in public service. He is a former wildland firefighter, schoolteacher, public health professional and government policy director for the State of Oregon. He is currently working as a Human Resources professional and pursuing his two true passions of writing screenplays and fly fishing.
