Kirsten Chen

Kirsten Shu-ying Chen is a screenwriter, poet and producer with her MFA in Creative Writing from the New School. Chen produced the award-winning Hollyshorts film “Fruit Detective” and the web series “This is me trying.” Her original pilot, "Rebel Rebel" has advanced to the second round of Sundance's 2019 episodic lab. In 2018, she was shortlisted for the DISQUIET International Literary Prize, nominated by the Florida Review for Best of the Net, and noted as a semifinalist for the Tomaz Salamun chapbook prize. More recently, her poetry has been noted as a finalist for the Autumn House Press Chapbook prize and her nonfiction noted as a semi-finalist for the GRIST Pro Forma Contest.

Chen has studied TV writing extensively under Columbia’s Alan Kingsberg and Sketch Writing at UCB Theatre. She is a member of the sketch team "One Prop Wonder."
