I interviewed 112 times before breaking into investment banking and private equity. That experience inspired me to write Final Round – a social thriller about a Latino college student interviewing for a job offer at an elite investment bank, until a series of odd occurrences leads him to a dark truth.
Final Round is about the cost of fitting in. Corporations, universities, and institutions increasingly assess candidates for “cultural fit”, preferring those who share the same values as the organization. Seeking compatibility is reasonable, in theory. But what happens when group values become warped? When individuality is sacrificed for harmony? If society encourages standout talents, why look for people that are going to fit in? Final Round explores these questions with the aim of bringing people together, rather than tearing them apart. By the end of the film, everyone is Jesús and everyone is trying to survive...the Final Round. I hope you enjoy the script.
