Playwright & TV writer Donald Jolly is the runner-up in Script Pipeline’s 2021 TV Writing Contest. He creates bold & heartfelt character-driven dramas/dramedies about LGBTQ+ Black people. His writing draws inspiration from his youth as a queer child of divorce in inner-city DC, tugged between one parent's world of the Black Church & respectability politics; and the other's world of rednecks, 4-H petting zoos, & interracial lesbian romance.
Jolly is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Writers Guild Foundation – Writers Access Support Staff Training Program, and holds degrees from Dartmouth College (1st-generation college grad) and USC School of Dramatic Arts (MFA, Theatre-Dramatic Writing).
Donald is excited to begin a career in the world of episodic drama and hopes to get repped and staffed in the not-too-distant future.
