Born in New York City, Betty grew up in a home where English and Mandarin-Chinese were constantly mixed together into a bizarre hybrid language.
Betty graduated from Barnard College at Columbia University, where she was briefly a reporter for WKCR radio station. While an undergrad, Betty had her official Manhattan stage-acting-debut as 'Bananas' in John Guare's "The House of Blue Leaves" at the Alma Shapiro Theatre.
Betty’s debut-short-film “Father’s Day”--which she wrote, directed, produced and starred in--was acquired for global pay-tv distribution by Hewes Pictures and has been broadcast/screened on four continents (North America, Asia, Europe and Africa). “Father’s Day” was nominated for the Golden Angel Award 2017 by the Chinese-American Film Festival in Los Angeles, and won the Directors Choice Award 2018 at Roselle Park Film Festival.
Betty is currently writing and developing a half-hour Original Series “Lala’s Love Lessons”, which was completely inspired by Music, and will feature an original Italian fashion line and K-POP-inspired Dancing.
Betty is a proud SAG member.
