As an actress, writer and musician, Ellie Anthony is a shapeshifting storyteller. She loves mixing myth and legend with the issues of our time as well as making sure the unheard voices of the past and present resonate loud and clear. She often weaves her own compositions into her screenplays. Her first feature, THE FLOWERS THAT LISTEN, was a Semifinalist in Roadmap’s 2020 Jumpstart Competition and her second, THE SEA TAKES CARE OF HER OWN was a quarterfinalist in WeScreenplay’s Diverse Voices Competition. Her ghost rom com, WALTZ OF THE SHADOWS, became a quarterfinalist at the Austin Film Fest in 2021. This year her first short script, BEFRIEND THE BEAR, was an official selection at the HollyShorts Film Fest. Her stories center on women realizing their own agency as they break free from societal barriers.
THE SEA TAKES CARE OF HER OWN
Inspired by true stories of the late 1700s, a young female sea captain, disguised as a male and on the run from the British, strikes a bargain with a healer from Saint Domingue, embarking on an epic adventure in search of an infamous treasure that could change their fate and maybe even the world.
